AMD OverDrive WIN

There’s a great utility available for free now from AMD (and associates). I recently got a new motherboard and CPU, and AMD OverDrive came with the motherboard. I gave it a thorough check-out, and have used some of its features to easily overclock, not just my CPU, but my whole system including video, bus speeds, and memory. This is especially nice for me because my whole system is designed to be overclocked. I payed a meager $70 for my 2.7GHz dual core 64 bit Kuma BLACK edition processor, and have managed to overclock it to a degree that it measures up with the stock speeds of several hundred dollar CPUs. With my customĀ liquid cooling system I don’t even have to worry about temperatures – it always stays nice ‘n’ cool.

AMD OverDrive offers simple overclocking tools for beginners, and advanced configuration options for those who have cranked a voltage or two in their day. It allows you to adjust settings that are typically only available in the BIOS. For some options, a full reboot is required. But for others, you can adjust and immediately run a stability test to ensure the chosen settings suit your system.

In addition to just overclocking, you also get an extremely detailed report on the status of every component of your system, and it integrates fully with the ATI Catalyst Control Center. Stability tests and an incredibly useful tool called Auto Clocking round out this fully featured overclocking utility, freely available from AMD’s website, and often packaged with motherboards and CPUs.
